A crannog is typically a partially or entirely artificial island, usually built in lakes and estuaries in prehistoris Ireland and Scotland.

Oil and cold wax on board

Framed is a warm grey wooden frame, 15 x 11 inches

This painting took shape over many months and has over 50 layers of oil and cold wax medium. I was trying a new painting techniques and mediums  - which certainly had moments of frustration (one even resulting in me putting this piece in the bin!).

Thankfully, I managed to retrieve it and kept on going - trying to capture the light in winter and snow.

It's now one of my favourites, and a reminder to keep going. You can see from the photo's that it captures the light and changes over the course of the day / weather.

This painting is signed and titled on the back.
